If we can inactivate the mitochondria in cancer cells can we use it as a viable treatment for cancer?

Currently, cancer treatments usually involve some sort of scorched earth policy. In fact, there is a decent population of people who survive the cancer but lose the battle against the treatment. For example, my father had non-Hodgkin`s lymphoma and had some brutal side effects for the chemotherapy. He eventually passed after a hard-fought battle for 2 years. In his last months, he was cancer free.
In short, new treatments need to be found. So why can`t we target the energy sources, or at least target them in cancer cells. The article sourced below "Mitochondria as a target in cancer treatment" (2020) shows how this may be possible and how it may be a viable treatment option in the next generations.
